Privacy policy
The Trust treats the handling of personal data seriously. The Privacy Policy below details how the Trust will treat your personal data after it has been collected by the Trust through your use of the Website.
The Trust assures that it will only use your data as specified herein and for its legitimate purposes.
Collection and use of data
1. Unless otherwise provided in the Privacy Policy or the Terms of Use, the Trust will not sell, rent or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes without your express consent.
2. The Trust can obtain personal data about you from a number of different sources:
i. When you search for or request details on services from the Website.
ii. Via unconditional data capture measures such as the use of cookies and studying the pages you read frequently (please see further below).
iii. Via your individual IP location. This is a necessary function of the Website that enables the Trust to place your messages on the message board.
3. In order to place your messages on the message board, the Trust will need to collect information about you. This information may include, but is not exclusively, details such as your name, your address, including your email address, postcode and your phone number.
4. The Trust may disclose your personal data to certain permitted third parties, such as the Trust’s own professional advisers who are bound by confidentiality codes, and when the Trust is legally obliged to disclose your personal data.
5. You have the right to ask the Trust not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. You also have the right to access personal data held about you by the Trust. Your right to access can be exercised in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, as amended from time to time, and any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet the Trust’s costs in providing you with details on the personal data we hold about you.
6. The Trust operates in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, and any amendments thereto.
Cookies
The Trust uses cookies in order to provide you with an efficient service. A cookie is a small text file of which there are three types:
a) Session cookies: Effectively, these record the electronic conversation that you have with the Website and reminds the Website where you were in that conversation. These also allow the Trust to return search results that are relevant to your geographic location. Session cookies are purely required for the Website to function and are in no way used to identify your personal information.
b) Permanent cookies: Many sites apply permanent cookies. These store a few numbers on your hard drive, which are visible by looking in the cookies directory of your browser installation. They last for a long time and every time you visit the Website you send copy of them to the Trust, which allows the Trust to identify you between visits. They are not essential for the functioning of the Website but will greatly improve your Website experience. We do not store any personal data in these cookies, just a unique number that identifies you to us.
Consent
By disclosing your personal data via the Website, over the telephone or via email you consent to the collection, storage and processing of your personal data by the Trust in the manner set out in the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use. Some information and emails sent to the Trust may be used as testimonials but no email address or contact details will be displayed.
